"But... this can be stopped. The only way to truly eliminate oppression is to eliminate the power that causes it! The ability to enslave, the ability to take control of others, the ability granted by... leadership."
"All you're doing is making yourself the most powerful."
"In raw strength, maybe. Although, that's assuming that we're the strongest people in the world right now. A pretty bold assumption, if you ask me. But even if it were correct, we still don't have the resources to become the monsters that we're trying to erase from this world. Sure, we're powerful, but we still need things like food, shelter, and, well, a society."
"So you just run around slaughtering people you find 'guilty' because you don't have the hope that the world can be better?!"
"We don't see the people we kill as 'guilty.' That's why it's so hard to do the things we do. After all, there's no way of telling if we're killing someone who's evil now, or someone who's 13th successor will be evil enough to corrupt the potential future nation for the rest of time."
"What about everyone else? You just leave them to fend for themselves?"
"Yes. It may be cruel, but it is the laws of nature. We cannot change it, so there's no point in trying to argue with it. Although, the normally harsh task of surviving in the wilderness becomes effortless with the power of Psynesis. With Psynesis, humans stand head and toes above every animal, every insect, everything. Our methods are cruel, but because of that, many of the survivors are able to access Psynesis after escaping. Messa is living proof of that."
I... don't know what to say.
"I know it's hard. After all, we're literally forcing ourselves to kill not only innocent people, but likely good people too. But, I hope you understand the bigger picture."
...
"I don't expect you to give us an answer now."
"...What? Then how will you...?"
"You're heading to Rosemerry Town, correct? That's our next target, had our eyes on it for a while. Don't know for sure when an opening for us to start the invasion will be, but it likely won't be incredibly soon. When we invade, we won't attack you unless you've made it clear that defending that city is the choice that you've made. In the meantime..."
Nash gives the armored lady a signal, some weird hand sign or something. She lets go of Messa right after.
"You two should head in that direction. Or not, I wouldn't blame you for trying to run from something like this. But, I wouldn't recommend it. This is the type of choice you need to fight head on, or else you'll regret it your entire life."
"Sounds like that's our cue, time to head out."
Every person in the Liberators of Society individually gets up and exits the scene in their own crazy stealthy ways.
"Looks like his preaching session is over. C'mon, let's go." Messa grabs me by the wrist, and we head to the train station.
I... don't know what to do now. Maybe it's because I'm tired. I shouldn't think about this decision until I get to Rosemerry.
...Eventually, me and Messa make our way to the train station. But... it's not empty. Which is strange, because everyone should have left by now, right? But... one person is here.
...and I hear her call out my name.
"Ah, you two are here!" That voice...
"Elizabeth?! You're..."
"Yes, I am alive! Messa was simply lying to distract those villains. They likely would have gone for my head otherwise."
"Why'd you think I got so angry at those guys? I'm not the type to lose my cool."
They killed your wife... why wouldn't you be angry?
"Haha, yeah.. that was so uncharacteristic of you..."
"Yeah, I was just spiking my energy so that whenever they used Mind's Body, my energy would likely be too distracting for them to search for anyone hidden."
"What took you two so long, anyway?"
Me and Messa didn't want to answer. But, I guess I should tell a little bit of the truth.
"I don't want to talk about it."
...I mean, it is the truth.
". . .Fair enough. The train will be here soon, so you will have plenty of time to rest. I . . . know I'll need it."
Actually, now that she mentions it...
"Why's the rails set up in this weird way, anyway?"
". . .What do you mean?"
"It's just... I feel like the rails are going the wrong way, with this angle, wouldn't the rails be..."
"You do realize the trains go through the mountain we're currently standing on, correct?"
"...Oh."
"How did you think it worked? Trains can't go up mountains, so it's not like this rail was constructed to bring us directly down the mountain or anything."
"I... never really thought of that."
The train starts to arrive.
"Don't worry too much about it, Isaac. We can all take a nice rest, on our way to Rosemerry town!"
Messa gets on the train first, with Elizabeth hopping on right afterwards. I take a moment to look back at the remains of the town I've left behind.
"I hope everyone is going to be okay."
"I hope so too. . ."
